MY LIFE

YEP! That's ME! Only a few weeks old.  Mom and dad did the horizontal exercise and 9 months later on JANUARY 12, 1969  in Seaside, California on the  military base of FORT ORD in Monterey. This is the 5th child his mom would push out after she DEMANDED they give her an epidural. Back then a lot of Black mothers died giving birth do to the lack of care they delivered Black children with. Unfortunately it still goes on today.  Fortunately GUY was fine. He was the healthiest baby born  in that hospital  in. 1969. His picture remained on the hospital's "Healthy Wall of Fame" until they tore the hospital down decades later. 

My family and I lived pretty well while in SEASIDE. At the time my little sister Malaika was not born so I was the baby a got all the love and attention.  Although I was very young, I remember flashes of time in  Northern California. The good weather.  Playing. outside. The holiday seasons especially Christmas. It certainly wasn't like todays children where they  have a plethora of cartoons, and toys and electronics to  keep them stimulated. We would often make up our own. games which I believe lead to my huge imagination today. 

I lived in Northern California for only four years. From January of 1969 to possibly Sometime  in 1973. During that period, as Guy would grow he would be their recipient of 2 his older bother's clothes. Hand me downs were
